A Moment at the Table Where Taste Meets Sound
Solbam × Bang & Olufsen: THE SOUND TABLE
A synesthetic experience presented by Solbam, Bang & Olufsen, and Catchtable

From November 17 to December 14, 2025, Solbam hosted a dining collaboration titled “THE SOUND TABLE — Where Taste Meets Sound” in partnership with Danish luxury audio brand Bang & Olufsen. This collaboration became a meaningful moment for Solbam to once again reflect on how far a gastronomic experience can expand beyond the plate.
At Solbam, gastronomy is never defined by flavor alone. An experience is only complete when every element comes together—the passage of time within a course, the negative space on a plate, the temperature and light of the room, service imbued with care and intention, the artworks on the walls, and even the air that fills the space in that moment. This collaboration began from precisely that perspective. By introducing sound as an additional sensory layer to a taste-centered dining experience, we sought to expand the moments at the table into something more dimensional and immersive.
This project was a campaign jointly conceived by Bang & Olufsen, Catchtable, and Solbam. Founded in 1925 in Struer, Denmark, Bang & Olufsen has carried forward nearly a century of sound heritage. Through this collaboration, our shared intention was to propose a new form of premium lifestyle experience—one that brings together the artistry of gastronomy and the craftsmanship of sound.

Throughout the campaign period, Bang & Olufsen’s signature speakers were thoughtfully placed across Solbam’s spaces, including the Drawing Room, the main dining room, and private rooms. In the softly lit Drawing Room, Beosound 2 revealed its elegant presence from every angle. The main dining room was anchored by Beolab 28, whose sculptural form appears to float effortlessly in the air. In the private rooms, Beosound Level and Beosound A5 completed each space like carefully chosen objets, adding depth and refinement to each dining moment through sound.
The sound curation was led by Woo Lee, former Creative Director of Billboard Korea and current Editor-in-Chief of Common Magazine. Drawing inspiration from Bang & Olufsen’s 100-year heritage, he composed a soundscape that weaves music from the 1920s to the present into a continuous journey. Flowing naturally alongside the rhythm of the courses, the sound quietly deepened the density of each moment at the table, enriching time itself through subtle and deliberate curation.

Through this collaboration, our entire team had the opportunity to reflect deeply on the idea of natural coexistence—how sound can inhabit a space without disrupting its aesthetic harmony. Each Bang & Olufsen piece was positioned with care, as if it had been part of Solbam’s design from the very beginning, contributing both presence and acoustic clarity. Rooted in restrained lines and natural materials, the principles of Scandinavian design—its focus on essence and restraint—resonated closely with the philosophy we pursue through our cuisine.
Luxury, Timeless, Craftsmanship. These three keywords define Bang & Olufsen’s brand identity, and they also naturally overlap with Solbam’s approach to both cooking and space. Just as Solbam views cuisine as an experience that completes the memory of a day, Bang & Olufsen treats sound not merely as technology, but as an essential element that enhances the depth of a moment and a place. Though we work with different senses, this shared attitude toward craftsmanship and sensory integrity made the collaboration a source of fresh insight for us.

As with this collaboration, the destination of our efforts remains unchanged: to offer each guest a deeper, longer-lasting memory. Moving forward, Solbam will continue to firmly uphold its core of good food, while expanding the textures of gastronomy through collaborations with outstanding brands across music, space, and design. We will keep exploring and shaping experiences where good food becomes a meaningful moment—and where, even after leaving the table, a quiet resonance lingers in the mind.
